Oyuntugs Narmandakh
I was born on April 19, 2005, in Khovd province as the second child of my parents.
I lived in my hometown until I came to Ulaanbaatar as a university student this year. I have chosen the Financial Management program as my major. I am currently studying at the University of Finance and Economics.
My desire to mentor and guide people from an early age and a deep interest in mathematics led me to choose this career. However, one of the biggest problems I had in studying the major at the university of my choice was the financial problem.
Financial freedom seems almost impossible these days unless your family owns a big business or is a high government official. This problem is also true for my family, which is living in a circle between loans.
It is very gratifying that many students like me are exempted from paying for the tuition fee with the help of the kind-hearted people of Friends of Mongolia and its donors. On the other hand, I also worry that many young people do not have this opportunity, and they are undoubtedly worried about their financial circumstances.
All of this is due to the government's and individuals' lack of financial knowledge. Therefore, it can be assumed that I can contribute to the betterment of everyone's understanding of finance and economic education. Maybe it's a too ambitious goal for an ordinary girl like me to go for. Still, I believe that our country is just like a white paper. I want to spread this idea to as many people as possible, to enable them to understand and take advantage of their opportunities. Therefore, I will do well in Financial Management. After graduation, I would like to contribute to my country's development.
Fall Semester Update:
As for me, I studied "Financial Management" at the University of Finance and Economy in the fall semester of 2023-2024. Since it was my first year, everything was new and I was very nervous at first. But I was also excited. Soon after starting university, I realized that everything was different from high school. I was the first to understand that only those who try are appreciated.
To be honest, at first, I didn't want to do the courses that I thought were not related to my profession. But when it came to the middle of the semester, I noticed that everything from my grades to the way my teachers interacted with me had changed. In other words, I thought that I would do it superficially. But I naturally understood and began to understand that everything can be done if you do it from your heart, and that other people can feel it too.
That's why I did better this semester than I expected. In the future, I will make better use of my opportunities and improve myself.
Spring Semester Update:
I have successfully completed the 2023-2024 spring semester.
The most valuable thing I learned during this time was the importance
of teamwork.
Of the total of six courses this semester, half of them were courses that required collaboration with teammates throughout the semester. Most of the time I was in a 'leader' role and learned the difference between being good at teamwork and being good at individual work.
For me, despite many years of focusing on personal growth and success, I've learned that I perceived a lot of things wrong when it comes to working as a team. There were even cases where I had to do some work alone because I was not able to distinguish the strengths and weaknesses of each of my team members and I lacked the ability to properly distribute the work. But in the middle of the semester, I developed those qualities in myself and learned to see in others their strengths and not just
their flaws.
In order to do this, of course, I first had to accept others as they are and understand that it is wrong to impose my own unrealistic expectations
on others.
As I am studying to become a financial manager, I think that what I have learned and understood in this semester has brought me one step closer to becoming a competent manager in the future.
Fall Semester Update:
I’m currently studying in Financial
Management at the University of Finance and Economics.
I gained more experience and knowledge in the last year, which was only two semesters than I did during the whole time I was in high school. So, I wanted to share the most important two with you.
Firstly, time management is very important when it comes to getting any kind of work done. When I was in high school, my family or school created schedules for me. Now I, myself, have to take care of it. I feel like time management should be more like a habit than an actual skill. I’m still working on it, even though sometimes I procrastinate.
Secondly, teamwork really does open many doors for anyone. Last semester, I got to experience one of the biggest team Olympiads. It was an Economics Olympiad. I was personally really interested in the subject and pretty confident that we were going to win. But not too soon did I realize that no matter how good you are on your own, it is not going to change anything if you don’t know how to use your skills in TEAM. (The picture I sent was taken during the Olympiad) I need to work with my colleagues, understand them, and make them understand me when I graduate and get a job. Thus, I believe that teamwork skill has many aspects to it, which I am still trying to achieve.
